I Have Danced…

I have danced the sun up

beat the dirt with my feet

sending deep the call

waking the earth

I have danced in the darkest hour

the inky void that precedes the dawn

icy shadows chilling my bones

breath suspended in the air like

tiny clouds of hope, mist of dreams

I have danced in the cold light of day

before the warmth of the sun breaks

when the light is harsh and unkind

the chill of night still lingering in the air

frigid feet marching, determined

to ignite the light once again

I have danced until shining beams

of that glorious gilded orb broke

over the faces of my tribe

my friends, dearest ones

sacred companions in the dance

I have danced as I felt

the growing glow of our stellar sphere

sending golden sparkles splashing

across the smiles of bodies

caught up in cosmic collaboration

I have danced the day away

in sweltering, shimmering heat

in the blazing mirage of the desert

sweat running in rivulets

down my writhing back

raining onto the parched earth

the blessed water of creation

I have danced the sun down

watched the blinding red face

dip below the horizon

the shiver of the evening air

caressing me with cooling kisses

brushing the dampness from my brow

I have danced a greeting

to the mysterious magical moon

our planet’s precious partner

in the whirl and the twirl

the ebb and the flow

in silvery symbiotic rapture we are

bonded forever in divinity

I have danced in the dark

in the cold and the black

around the bonfire I have leapt

into the shadows I have skipped

writing spells with my limbs

articulating the message of heaven

with every subtle undulation

I have danced by the ocean

my steps echoing the pulsing rhythm

the pounding of earth’s blood

breaking onto the rocks

the constant current lapping away

slowly steadily crushing mountains

into the dust I stomp beneath my feet

I have danced in forests

embraced and cradled by

the arboreal gods moving with me

feet moving softly over strong roots

branching arms reaching up to the sky

my body twists and bends like

the sacred trunks bowing to the wind

I too am a divine bridge

between earth and sky

I have danced on mountains, I have danced in deep valleys

I have danced in wind, I have danced in rain

I have danced in the spaces that connect us to each other

I have danced to be broken, I have danced to heal

I have danced in joy, I have danced in sorrow

I have danced with friends, I have danced with enemies

I have danced until my back ached and my feet were sore and swollen

I have danced until dancing was all that existed

I have danced entire worlds into being

I have danced until the end of time

I have danced

And still I dance

as I am filled with bliss, I dance

as God’s giggle washes over me

tickling my toes curling

flexing and pointing

tiny bones that hear a tiny song

always ready to engage

forever listening for the rhythm in the magic

tapping out codes to capture

pure spirit and tether it

just for a moment

on Earth as it is in Heaven
